Miami is a city that welcomes its visitors with open arms, and a gesture towards the community means so much more than just a mere handshake. It’s evident in the friendly faces that greet you wherever you go, the love-filled smiles of our locals, and most importantly, in the monuments we build to commemorate our fellow countrymen – especially those who have left their mark on this city. Miami has been home to some of America’s most influential immigrants throughout its history. From businessmen to scholars, politicians to artists, and other professionals from all over the world. The melting pot of cultures makes Miami such a vibrant place and it’s something we should all be proud of. South Florida is known for being an immigration haven after all. That’s why it’s only fitting that we have one of the first monuments in the country commemorating undocumented immigrants as well as their contributions to society! Through our Torch of Friendship project , we hope to inspire others to do the same by showing them how they can help make their communities more inclusive through civic engagement projects like this one. It is located at 301 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132.
Why the Torch of Friendship monument?
For a city as vibrant and diverse as Miami, it’s only fitting that we should build monuments to commemorate the contributions of our immigrants. For this reason, the Torch of Friendship is a monument that honors the undocumented immigrants of Miami and their important contributions to the city’s history and culture. The Torch of Friendship is a monument that not only commemorates undocumented immigrants and their contributions to Miami’s history, it also serves as a beacon of hope for all immigrants who are looking for a better future for themselves and their families back home. The Torch of Friendship serves as a reminder that immigrants are an important part of our society and they deserve to be honored and remembered. It also serves as a positive role model for young people who might be immigrating or undocumented, showing them that they too can be leaders in their communities, contribute greatly to their city, and help make their cities more inclusive for all.
